For many years I have battled with the failures in my life. Failure’s in marriages, in work, in ministry and many perceived failures in just ordinary life. Failure happens to all of us, yet we struggle in many different ways with it. There are probably books out there with the steps on how to overcome failure. That is not my intention in writing this. I am hoping for us to see through the eyes of our hearts how God sees our failures. To look at how God would have us see them and heal the places in our hearts that failure has affected. Which should in turn help us to receive restoration and healing from the wounds and lies the failures have brought to our hearts and to overcome them. I do not believe there is a formula for all of this. I believe God wants to speak to us individually in our hearts what each of us needs to live for him. In my own life the past few years have been one of discovery of how important our heart is to God. He has led me on a journey, a path to where I have found some wisdom, understanding, and knowledge of this journey that I have been on. I hope to share some of this insight to help us all be the disciples we want to be and walk with God on this journey with a little more wisdom and clarity.
In Jeremiah 31, verse 21, it says, “Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take.”
That is what I hope for this to be. Some simple guideposts and road signs that I have seen and experienced on my journey. To those of us who are followers of Christ, we will need to find these guideposts to guide us through this journey of ours. We have to listen for the voice of God in the midst of our journey. We are in need of sages, men or women who have traveled this journey before to show us the way to deal with the failures and perceived failures in our lives. Failures which could be due from circumstances which have occurred by our own action, the actions of others, and many that have happened simply because of the fallen world in which we live and the fact we have an enemy of our souls. We will need to be guided by Jesus through the Holy Spirit to find the counsel we need. In Ephesians Chapter 1 verses 17-19 Paul is praying for the christians in Ephesus, he says this “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” (NAS)
This is what I am praying for all of you who read this. That God would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation and open the eyes of your heart so that they would see the hope we have and receive the power to see our failures through the eyes of God. This will not be an easy road to travel on. We will have to open our hearts to listen to what God would have to say about our lives. In the Old Testament many times we are told to listen attentively to the voice of God. I hope you will listen attentively if God is speaking to you through these words.
