As we go forward into this new year many resolutions will be made. The one that I would like to focus on is something Jesus said, In Luke 12 verse 31 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.”

Jesus spoke a lot about the Kingdom of God or as Dallas Willard in his book The Divine Conspiracy puts it the Kingdom of the Heavens.

How does the Kingdom of the Heavens affect my life at work, school, home, family? For Jesus said many times that the Kingdom of God is at hand or is upon you. The availablity of the Kingdom of the Heavens right now is what Jesus taught.

Dallas Willard again put it this way:
“The reality of God’s rule, and all of the instrumentalities it involves, is present in action and available with and through the person of Jesus. That is Jesus’ gospel. The obvious present reality of the kingdom is what provoked the responses we have just discussed. New Testament passages make plain that this kingdom is not something to be accepted now and enjoyed later, but something to be entered now.”

This is where our hearts come in, for it is through the heart we believe, it is where God transforms us to live out our lives in this world.

Dallas Willard again, “The heart, or will, simply is spirit in human beings. It is the human spirit, and the only thing in us that God will accept as the basis of our relationship to him. It is the spiritual plane of our natural existence, the place of truth before God, from where alone our whole lives can become eternal.”
We at Zadok New Heart Ministries have the desire that everyone who claims Jesus as their saviour and restorer, will find their true hearts. That each one of us will find how important our hearts are to God. For deep inside all of us is our true selves whom Jesus died for and rescued.

He transfered us from the kingdom of darkness, to the Kingdom of Light.
Whatever resolutions you have made for this year, I believe finding your true heart, the heart God created in you is the first place to start.
The question I have for each of us, how many sermons or Bible studies have focused on the Kingdom of God? Jesus spoke much about the Kingdom of God.

Just to give you a quick look here are a few examples from the book of Luke.

Luke 8:1 “Soon afterwards, he began going around from one city and village to another, proclaiming and preaching the Kingdom of God..”
Luke 9:2 “And he sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to perform healing.”
Luke 9:11 “But the crowds were aware of this and followed him and welcoming them he began speaking to them about the Kingdom of God and curing those who needed healing.”
Luke 11:20 “But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.”
Those are just a few of the passages where Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of God. Have we missed something?

What does your heart do when we speak of the Kingdom of God? My heart wants more. Let this year be the year of our hearts yearning to know God and Jesus Christ his only son.

In the Love of Christ,
Michael
