Have you thought about who and what Jesus was like when he walked this earth? John Eldredge in his Life of Jesus series on CD talks about how important it is look at what we think about who God is. What his heart is towards us who believe?

So the next few months messages for Zadok New Heart Ministries will be about who and what Jesus was like. First he was a man just like us; he needed to pray, as do we need to pray. Not out of obligation or duty, but for our survival in life.

Hebrew Chapter 5 verse 7 says this:
“In the days of his flesh, he offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his piety”.
I am sure you have heard a message on the importance of prayer. Have you looked at the Gospels to see how Jesus lived that out?
It was part of his daily life. It came naturally to him. As John Eldredge says just because he was God, he did not cheat on the test he was still a man like us.  He was showing us the way to live our lives after we have been rescued by him.
It says many times in the book of John, we must believe. It also says at the end of the book these stories or accounts were written for you to believe.

What do you believe deep in your heart about God? Has the futility and the frustration of everyday life slowly eroded your deep trust that God knows what he is doing and his heart is good toward us? This is what the Bible talks about when it speaks of drifting away from Him. It is a slow erosion of our faith and trust in the one who has rescued us. It is vital for us to look deep in our hearts to see what we really think about God. Jesus was a man just like us and he knows what we are going through every day. For me it is always comes back our hearts. The center and core of our being; who we really are inside.

What do I really believe deep in my heart? Do I trust him at his word? Even when it seems to take a long time to see things happen?
Lastly Jesus was a man so he knows we will have to fight for our hearts. Because that is what he did. When Jesus was tempted by Satan it was a battle and when it was done he needed angel’s to attend to him. He was restored by them physically to go forward. This is the same for us. We are in need of restoration spiritually and physically for us to continue in the battle’s we face.  Remember though he said his yoke is easy and his burden is light. We must abide in him, listen to him, and spend time with him. Not out of obligation, but out of love and desire to know him.

If you knew that a person had all the answers for your heart and your life, would you not want to spend all the time you could with that person? We need to continually look more deeply into who and what Jesus was like. Will you begin today?

In the Love of Christ,
Michael Swain
